The Edgartown Conservation Commission administers and enforces the Massachusetts Wetlands Protection Act, M.G.L. C. 131 s. 40, and the Edgartown Wetlands Bylaw; acquires and manages property for the purpose of conserving and/or preserving rare or unique aspects of the environment.

The Conservation Commission must review and permit any activities which impact the vegetation or ground within 200 feet of a wetland resource area (see bylaw for resource area definitions). This jurisdiction is expanded to within 300 feet in the Edgartown Ponds Area District (see overlay district for definitions and regulations for the district). Activities within 100 feet of a resource area must be reviewed under the Wetlands Act. Applications are available online at the DEP website , hard copies are available at the Commission's office. Local applications, land outside the 100 foot state zone, are available in the Commission's office, or on this website....
