P.E., PTOE

Principal of
Transportation Planning and Land Development,
Howard Stein Hudson

As Principal at HSH, Keri is responsible for overseeing a variety of transportation planning and traffic engineering projects in the Boston area. She has worked on both public and private projects in the cities of Boston, Cambridge, and Somerville, as well as for other state and municipal agencies throughout New England and New York. Keri is well-versed in many aspects of transportation, including operational analysis, parking, safety studies, pedestrian and bicycle studies, traffic signal design, traffic management, and peer reviews.

Relevant experience:

Stop & Shop Expansion Peer Review
HSH conducted a peer review of the Traffic Impact and Access Study for  the expansion of the Stop & Shop on Upper Main Street in Edgartown on Martha's Vineyard. The project would relocate the pharmacy services that are currently located on Edgartown-Vineyard Haven Road by expanding the building footprint of the existing Stop & Shop grocery store on Upper Main Street. Keri was Project Manager.

Engineering Services for Island Partnership, Martha's Vineyard Commission
HSH provided on-call engineering consulting services for the Island  Partnership comprised of the Martha's Vineyard Commission (MVC); the  Island Towns of Oak Bluffs, Tisbury, Edgartown, West Tisbury, Aquinnah,
and Chilmark; Dukes County, and the Vineyard Transit Authority (VTA). The projects included engineering related to transportation and site planning on the Island. For the Cromwell Lane sidewalks improvements project, HSH worked on the reconstruction and expansion of sidewalks, new curb ramps, and crosswalks. HSH also conducted a site visit and prepared a memo for the Town of West Tisbury regarding alternatives for a proposed pedestrian/ bicycle bridge along State Road over Mill Brook. HSH also worked with the Town of Edgartown on a conceptual design of a short section of Edgartown-Vineyard Haven Road as a demonstration project. Keri was the Principal in Charge.

Tisbury Complete Streets Prioritization Plan
HSH developed a Complete Streets Prioritization Plan for the Town that goes well beyond the scope provided and suggested by Mass DOT. Included with the plan are tools that can be used to create an implementable list of prioritized projects, and also help direct and inform the Town on other projects which have the potential to provide Complete Streets improvements. Taking into account the Town's seasonal tourist, recreational opportunities, and need  for expanded, safe, pedestrian and bicycle networks, the 117 Tier 2-funded projects provide the Town with strategic project selection and prioritization by considering existing pedestrian and bicycle conditions, demand for these modes, and equity. Through Tier 3 funding, the Town has been able to pursue 20 projects from the Prioritization Plan. Keri was the Principal in Charge.

Relevant Experience:

BCEC Master Planning and Feasibility Services
As a consultant, Tom and the HSH team worked on a Master Plan and Feasibility Study of the Boston Convention Center and surrounding property. The overall objective of the master planning and feasibility study was to create a final document on which the MCCA board could determine whether or not to expand the current Boston Convention and Exhibition Center (BCEC) campus. The desire to expand the BCEC to ensure its long term success as a regional, national, and international trade/event venue, while minimizing any potential negative impacts to the surrounding community in which it sits was the overarching goal. HSH was tasked with gauging these potential impacts and how they could be mitigated. Our work included engaging the City of Boston and State agencies as well as other key stakeholders; and outlining a building program that was financially self-sufficient, and maximized the MCCA's competitive advantage in a rapidly evolving global convention and meeting marketplace.
