Licensing and Registration
Massachusetts General Law requires that all dogs aged six months and older be licensed each year.  A current rabies certificate is required at the time of registration for ALL new licenses and renewals. If a form is submitted without the rabies certification, the dog(s) will NOT be registered.

How to obtain a dog license

  • ONLINE (must provide CURRENT rabies certificate when filing online)
  • IN PERSON– stop by the Town Clerk’s Office with your dog’s rabies certificate and payment
  • BY MAIL (download form by clicking here)

1. Fill out the Dog License Form 

2. Include a COPY OF RABIES VACCINATION CERTIFICATE for each dog. 

3. Include PAYMENT (checks payable to Town of Edgartown) for license ($6 for spayed/neutered dogs, $10 for intact dogs). There is also a $1.00 processing fee

4. Mail the form, vaccination certificate and payment to the Town Clerk’s Office PO Box 35, Edgartown, MA 02539
