Obtain a Birth, Death or Marriage certificate
You can request a certified copy of a vital record using any of the following methods:
- In Person: Visit the Town Clerk’s Office at 70 Main St, Edgartown MA 02539.
- Online: Submit your request via Unipay. (Please contact the clerk’s office first to verify we have the record on file with our office at 508-627-6110 before ordering.)
- By Mail: Download the Mail Order Form and payment to: Town Clerk PO Box 35 Edgartown, MA 02539
MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE
The Edgartown Town Clerk issues certified copies of marriage records for marriages that were registered in the Edgartown Town Clerk’s office. A marriage record is registered in the town where you filled out your marriage intention. Some marriage records are not public documents and require a picture ID to obtain (if the parents of either party were not married at their birth).
BIRTH CERTIFICATE
The Edgartown Town Clerk issues certified copies of the records of birth of those people born in Edgartown, Massachusetts and for those whose parents lived in Edgartown at the time of the child’s birth. Some birth records are not public documents and a picture ID is required in order to obtain the record (if the parents were not married at the time of birth).
DEATH CERTIFICATE
The Edgartown Town Clerk issues certified copies of records of death for those whose death occurred in Edgartown and for any Edgartown resident who passed in any other Massachusetts community.
